Hello and happy belated Halloween to you all!
This year, I dressed up as Helena, from the My Chemical Romance song and video:
I am a roiling perfectionist when it comes to my costumes, so I had critiques: was the eye makeup dark enough? Could I get away with letting the sash sit at my natural waist instead of a drop waist, which I just do not have enough torso to pull off? Would anyone judge me for not adding another layer of scratchy tulle at the skirt?
But considering I temporarily dyed my hair, put in contacts for the first (and LAST) time in my life, and slept in a Crest white strip to offset how yellow the whited-out lips would make my teeth look…I did okay!
I wasn’t the only Helena this year. I adored this modest fashion take:
And I would absolutely perch this marionette in the apartment:
I wanted to make this a quick, breezy newsletter with some of my favorite costumes from this year. Happy scrolling!
I can’t stop laughing, have not stopped laughing all week, at this David Byrne dog. Look at his stupid little head:

Two Minutes to Late Night’s Jordan Olds as Glenngary Glenn Danzig. 2M2LN is actually how I got into Danzig in the first place, because of this very video1:

Thank you Susannah for reminding me that I left off actual photos of the chickens last week! Here are some!!
Two little notes before I send you all off towards your weekend:
Matt’s grandmother, who reads this newsletter every week and is one of the most supportive people in my life, told me that I really should watch that Last Man Standing (“even though Tim Allen is a Republican”) because the one character, Mandy, “looks like me, walks like me, talks like me. She’s the slut.” She didn’t mean it that way, so she says, but oh…the three of us cackled in a hug as I wheezed into Matt’s chest. Mam, I love you so much and I can’t believe my luck in finding yet another loving, beautiful grandmother. How lucky I am.
My dear friend Jonathan told me that he was out with a friend who started recommending my blog, only for Jonathan to turn around and reveal that we have been friends for many, many years. So to Ellen, thank you so much for reading and for telling others about this newsletter! That made my week and I hope to meet you soon.
Love you bootches,
TG
Gina Gleason, the woman you are!!!
Hehehe thank you for the shoutout and the extra cat content!!!! They are so cute grooming each other that I could die and be resurrected as a happy ghost!!!!
LOVE YOU THANK YOU
