If I could Eternal Sunshine anything from my mind so I could relive it1, in the no-I’m-not-shitting-you top five would be “You! Me! Dancing!” by Los Campesinos! (punctuation theirs): this song possesses one of the most blissful, surprising, ebullient intros in all of music. I heard it for the first time in a few months recently, and laughed when the tension breaks, threw my arms up over my head at the cacophany of it all. Joy. It builds and builds and then goes nowhere you’d expect, a rollercoaster in the dark, the happiest night of your goddamn life.
I gave my computer a virus downloading their next album on Limewire to burn it to a CD for Kyle Burns in high school.
I’ve forgiven them.
Love you bitches, and thank you,
TG
“So I could relive it” conveniently rules out the “never do I ever want to think about this” experiences of watching Donna Noble lose the memory of her time traveling on Doctor Who, the time I realized that kangaroos have an angry ex-boyfriend energy and therefore inspiring my phobia of kangaroos, and that time I dated a guy who called Danzig fans “neo-goth trash.”
